What steps can I follow towards a healthier lawn?
The very most important one you should take when attempting to improve the overall health of your lawn is first eliminate all undesired vegetation.
Once the weeds have been removed, the next step towards a beautifully health lawn is to prepare the soil for seeding. Through a process called vertical slicing or aerifying, the thatch can be penetrated. At this point a seedbed is established which permits the seeds to make direct contact with the soil and prevents the seeds from germinating on top of dead organic matter.
The most important step towards a healthy lawn is through the use of high quality seeding product, which include a turf-type variety. You can rely on the professionals at A & H Landscaping to select a seeding product best to compliment your soil conditions.
Finally, water, water, and more water! Until the seedlings are well established, they should receive an abundant watering on a daily basis for at least the first 2-3 weeks. At this point, you should begin to witness the results of your hard work and dedication. If not, always feel free to contact the professionals at A & H Landscaping and we will gladly be at your service.
What is the best time of year to sod my lawn?
During the late summer months from August 15 through the early fall around October 15, the ground is generally warmer and often moister than in the spring and there is less competition with Crabgrass and broadleaf weeds. Because seeds germinate best when the ground temperatures are between 58 F-75F, during the late summer and early fall months you should receive your maximum seeding results.

What is the best time of day to water my lawn?
Because water evaporates quickly during the afternoon hours and the likelihood for disease to occur is most prevalent during the night, we at A & H Landscaping recommend watering during the early morning hours between 5:00am-10: 00am.
What causes SOD to die?
Due to lack of water and sunlight, your SOD will become sick and eventually die. A healthy lawn requires a minimum of 1 inch of rainfall or other watering source on a daily basis. Much like people, you can not allow a healthy lawn to dehydrate. Also, your yard must receive a minimum of 65% daily sunlight exposure. Afterall, very few plants grow in the dark!
Why is the grass under the trees not growing?
During the hot summer months in Texas a large tree will consume approximately ten gallons of water a day. Thus, the grass becomes victim to the tree when the tree has utilized all of the available water supply. Secondly, we highly recommend a routine tree trimming regime in which the tree will be thinned out and allow for light penetration through its thick and darkened branches.
How does routine pruning benefit my trees?
Promoting and correcting bad branch structure, reducing the hazard of exposure to power lines due to overgrowth, and improving the overall health and well-being of the tree, at A & H Landscaping we recommend a routine tree trimming regime.

What is the required payment on a landscaping proposal?
We require 50% down payment on all landscaping jobs.
Can I leave my credit card "on file" with you?
Absolutely! We have many clients who do exactly that! Of course, if you would prefer, you may pay online from this site!
What if it rains on my scheduled "cutting day"?
In the event of a rainy morning, we will stop working until the rain subsides and then work throughout the afternoon hours until everyone scheduled for that day is complete. If we are "rained out" for the entire day, then you will be contacted and scheduled for the following day or at your next most convenient time.
Do you do free estimates?
Absolutely! A & H Landscaping is happy to provide a free consultation on all landscaping, stonework and outdoor kitchen projects. In addition, we will also promise to meet or beat any written landscaping, stonework or outdoor kitchen proposal from another landscaping provider.
